Pet Loss
Eleanor Roosevelt got it right when she said, “Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends leave footprints on your heart." And for many people, those footprints are left behind by their beloved pets.
At Cotter Funeral Home, we agree that pets are an important part of the family. And when we lose them, the loss is painful and the grieving process very real. We now offer pet care services to help you memorialize your special companion under our Precious Pets brand.
Pet Cremation Options in Our Own Private Crematory
- Individual (private) cremation. Your pet is the only pet in the chamber, and the remains are returned. This ensures the highest level of purity of the remains.
- Partitioned Cremation. Your pet is in the chamber with other pets, physically separated by large trays. There is a 150lb weight limit for partitioned cremations.
- Group Cremation. Your pet is cremated with other pets with no division. Due to the nature of this process, the remains cannot be returned but are instead scattered in a nature preserve.
Based on your family’s wishes, you are able to watch/attend the cremation in our comfortable lounge when you choose individual cremation for a small additional fee.
Pet Memorialization
We offer a full selection of pet caskets, urns, custom jewelry, and other personalization options. We are happy to guide you through the selection process as well with the placement of your pet’s remains. We offer digital catalogs, or you can call or email for more information.
If burial is your preference, we offer caskets from simple, corrugated cardboard to fully sealed caskets that prevent the intrusion of exterior elements. You may bury on your own private property, or we can refer you to local pet cemeteries.
As Helen Keller noted, “What we have enjoyed, we can never lose...all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
We would be honored to honor your pet’s life with you. For more information, please contact us or visit our pet website at www.preciouspets.net
