In Loving Memory
William R. “Bill” Schmitz

William R. Schmitz, 97, died on Sunday, July 11, 2021, peacefully, surrounded by family. Born the oldest of six children to Rudolph and Florence (Karn) Schmitz in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Bill gladly devoted his life to family, his country, and to many individuals he helped throughout his career in business financial services. He attended St. Patrick’s Grade School, Green Bay West High, and Central Catholic High School. Bill enlisted for military service in WWII and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a fighter pilot from 1943-46 in Europe.

Returning to Green Bay, while working for the family automobile business and attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Bill met his true love Adrienne Burke whom he married on Sept. 1, 1948. They would be married for over 72 years and have three children. “Willy and Abin” made a wonderful life together, working hard, and experiencing the simple joys that family life brings.

Bill cared deeply about the outdoors. He loved music, games, competitive sports, and was especially passionate about tennis throughout his adult life. Retirement years included winters in San Diego and Scottsdale. Best of all Bill was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

William is survived by his wife Adrienne; children Eric (Susan) Schmitz, Elsbeth Schmitz, Alison (Jay) Frazier; grandchildren Elizabeth Frazier (Jake Schuppe), Catherine Frazier (Tyler Kunde); great-grandson James Frazier Kunde; sister Mary Bartley; sister-in-law Carol Jean Schmitz, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard, Jack, sisters Jeanne Anne, Rose Marie “Pat” Kelly, brother-in-law Paul Kelly, sister-in-law Naomi Schmitz.
