William John Mamerow, “Bill”, passed to heaven on August 8, 2024, after suffering for many years with a debilitating disease. He was born on March 19, 1953, in Waukesha WI, the third child of Elizabeth and Arthur Mamerow.
Bill was raised on a farm just outside of Oconomowoc, WI. He played football in high school and in college at UW Eau Claire. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and Communications and also obtained a Wisconsin Teacher’s License. Bill began his teaching career at Tomahawk, WI High School, where he also directed and produced the Annual State Competition One Act Play, the yearly Musical and the spring Children’s Theatre Production.
He married Barbara Elliot in 1982 in Platteville WI. They moved to Manitowoc in 1985 when Bill accepted a position with WI Electric Corporation. In 1991 he began working for WI Public Service Company. In 2000, he went back to teaching, this time at the Green Bay Correctional facility. Also, that year he and his wife opened the Palace of Reifs Mills Dinner Event Theatre.
He was an avid Packer, Brewer and Wisconsin Badger football fan. He was an active member of church over the years playing in the praise band, ushering, singing and playing “Farmer Bill” for the children’s time.
Bill is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother Robert (Carol) Mamerow and sister Jean (Don) Popp, both of Oconomowoc; several in-laws, many, many nieces and nephews, special Theatre friends, college football team members, close friends and colleagues and his church family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gathering 43, 623 De Pere Rd., Denmark WI at 1:30 pm on August 31, 2024.
