Violet Schmidt, 96, passed away early Sunday morning at Odd Fellows Home in Allouez. She was born January 6, 1916 to the late Leslie and Theresa Gepner in the Town of Rock in Wood County. She married Norbert Schmidt on June 12, 1937 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shirley, where she was a member for 75 years. She enjoyed farming with her husband until his death, dancing, polka music and bowling. She is survived by her children: Leslie (Dolores) Schmidt, Bonnie (Bob) Wicker, Rick (Sue) Schmidt, son-in-law James Warden, 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, sisters: Lorraine Dobberpuhl and Viorene (Francis) Lloyd, sister-in-law Fran Gepner. Further survived by brother-in-law, Donald and sisters-in-law: Hilma, Audrey, Verna and Alice; many nieces, nephews and godchildren, as well as special furry friends: Cocoa and Muff, who now have special new homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert; daughter, Joan Warden; brother, Delbert Gepner, and granddaughter-in-law, Amy Schmidt. Family and friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shirley, on Thursday, March 8, from noon until 2pm. Service will be held at 2pm, at the Church, with Pastor J.C. Eggert officiating. Interment in the Church Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family.
