Verna A. Zelten, age 91, De Pere, passed away April 18, 2023. She was born November 29, 1931, in Stangelville, daughter of Frank and Frances (Gasche) Selner. Verna married Francis Peters on December 15, 1972 and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1974. Verna married Harold “Butch’’ Zelten June 20, 1980, at St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere. Verna worked at Milprint Inc. for many years, was a member of the De Pere VFW Auxiliary and St. Mary Catholic Community.
Survivors include her husband, Harold “Butch’’; children, Sr. Laura Zelten, Amy Zelten, Jo Ellen (Dan) Zmek all of Green Bay; Meg (Craig) Kolb of Wausau; grandchildren, Jeff Taylor, Lydia Zmek, Joe (Taylor) Zmek, Allie (Marc) Sacia, Kyle Kolb; great-grandchildren: Kobus Taylor, Juliana and Theo Zmek, Emma and baby girl Sacia; Selner family; special niece Darlene Amenson, twin sisters, Irene Ledvina and Arlene Kozlovsky; sister-in-law, La Verne Selner. Zelten family, Shirley Zelten, Rosalie Zelten, Janet (Larry) Van Grunsven, Joyce (Bill) Lindsley, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Peters, brother, Leonard Selner; brothers-in-law, Clarence Kozlovksy, Jerry Ledvina, Jerome Zelten, Ron Zelten, Ralph (brother-in-law) and Dolores (sister-in-law) Baeten.
Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, on Friday, April 28, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Rev. Mike Ingold officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in Verna’s name.
