Terese A. "Teri" Huempfner

Terese Huempfner, known by most as Teri, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, December 29, 2025.

Born Terese Arlene Morelock in Harvard, IL on September 19, 1960, to Harry Robinson Morelock and Nellie Rae (Carter) Morelock, she was the seventh of nine children. Throughout her youth, her family lived on several dairy farms in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, eventually settling in Delavan, WI where she graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 1978. She attended Concordia College-Mequon, graduating summa cum laude in 1985 with an AA in Parish Secretarial. That same year she began work at Redeemer Lutheran Church & School in Green Bay, and from 1987 was employed by Inter-Tractor America Corp/ Linzer Industries. It was while working for this company that she accepted a transfer to Atlanta, GA in 1990.

Upon returning to Wisconsin--now a single mom to Stephanie--Teri met and married Paul Huempfner on November 16, 1991, in Delavan. In 1995 the family moved to Houston, TX, but finally put down roots in Greenleaf, WI in 1999. She secured a position as a Planning Coordinator at Humana and would remain there for 20 years. Outside of work and home, she was extremely involved as a member of Alleluia Lutheran Church, serving with the Worship Team, AWOM [Alleluia Women on a Mission] and Helping Hands Ministry/hospitality committee. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, planned and oversaw many potluck gatherings including the Faith Basics new member classes and church picnics. She also spearheaded Alleluia's Easter Breakfast and became affectionately known as the "Kitchen Nazi" by her all-male crew!

Teri will be remembered for her faith, compassion, thoughtfulness, work ethic, and humility. Her big personality, comprised of an outgoing nature, infectious laugh, and powerful voice, could easily draw people in. She enjoyed reading, singing, sewing, cooking, baking, and crafts. She loved reusing and recycling materials such as denim jeans for handmade projects which she would then gift to friends and relatives. Not only did Teri bring joy to others, but she tried to live out JO-Y: "Jesus - Others - Yourself."

Among the many ways that she gave her life to service, motherhood is where Teri shone brightest. In 2003, she and Paul were blessed to become parents for a second time when they adopted their son Gavin. Teri made every effort to support her children's education and hobbies, volunteering her time to visit the classroom or attending events such as concerts, talent shows, theatrical performances, and sports games. She was delighted to gain a son-in-law when her daughter married Josh in 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Nellie Morelock; in-laws Gerald and Sally Huempfner; and siblings Stephen Michael Morelock, Lorraine Lemus, and Jim Morelock.

She is survived by her aunt Carolyn Taft; siblings Bonnie Morelock, Ray (Jenny) Morelock, Ruth Huerta, Harry (Sarah) Morelock, and Lynnice (Jesse) Sanchez; sisters-in-law Trudy (Joe) Ferrier, Jean (Doug) Meidl, and Mary (Peter) Schiebel; brothers-in-law Joe (Penny) Huempfner, Mark Huempfner, and Brian (Dana) Huempfner; her husband Paul; children Gavin Huempfner and Stephanie (Josh) Miller; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Plans for a memorial service to celebrate Teri's life will be announced at a later date. At her request, those wishing to honor her memory may consider a monetary donation to Alleluia Lutheran Church and/or the Wrightstown Community Food Pantry.
