Sandra Lee Kufahl

September 30, 1946 — January 13, 2024

Sandra “Sandy” Lee “Lawrence” Kufahl left this world suddenly on January 13, 2024. She was born on September 30, 1946, in Monroe WI to Paul and Betty Lawrence. They lived in South Wayne WI. She was a caring, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. As a child, she loved to sing with the family and sang in the choir at the Methodist Church. She graduated from South Wayne High School in 1964 and went on to attend beauty school and for most of her life had a beauty salon in her home. She met the love of her life Earl Kufahl in Madison and they married on August 6, 1966. They had two children, Lisa Marie, and Chad Earl. They made their home in Evansville WI and then moved to Sheldon IL, and finally to Green Bay WI, where they became huge Packers fans. She was a friend to everyone and for years got up every morning and gave a neighbor a ride to work because she had no transportation. She continued to work in a part-time capacity but especially loved her work family at the local Sal’s (Austin’s) grocery store in De Pere WI.

Sandy’s greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, and held a special love for her daughter Lisa’s son Toby who lived with them until entering military service. She cared for a young boy named Cory Burton in his early years when they were in Illinois who later came to live with them in Green Bay for over ten years. She had a compassion for God’s “special” people.

She especially treasured the time she spent with her five sisters for a continuous 35 years of “never missed a year” annual 5-day sister retreats. Those were such special times for her. Sandy and Earl loved music, especially gospel and polka music and they were great dancers. She loved her Norwegian heritage and had a great collection of treasures from Norway. She loved to read and had a wonderful book collection, had many cooking and crafting talents and loved sharing them with her neighbors and work family.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Betty Lawrence, and brother Jeffrey.

Sandy is survived by her husband Earl, daughter Lisa, son Chad (Connie) Kufahl, step-son Kevin (Sue) Kufahl and step-daughter Kim (Joe) Garber; sisters Jacqueline Freund, Roxy Koch, Julie Bufalo (Carl), Kelly Curran (Chris), and brother Bill Lawrence (Sher); grandchildren: Toby (Caitlin) Kufahl, Cassandra (Marino) Gaeta, Alexis Kufahl, Gregory Kufahl, Josh (Richell) Kufahl, Aaron (Teresa) Kufahl, Rachael (Chad) Krueger, Chris (Madeline) Kufahl, Justin Kufahl, Jamie (Luke) Iverson, Derek DeLeon, Melissa (Paul) Frisque, Brian Frisque, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great Grandchild, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends and co-workers.

In keeping with the wishes of Sandy, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
