Ruth Kouba, 92, of Maribel, passed into heaven peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born May 16, 1920, in the Town of Cooperstown in Manitowoc County to the late Richard and Helen (Manke) Mathies. Ruth was married to Henry Kouba on May 28, 1949 in Manitowoc. Ruth was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Denmark VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to being a wonderful mom and grandma, Ruth loved taking care of her cats, sewing, and had a beautiful flower garden. She made the most beautiful quilts and cutest teddy bears, making sure her children and grandchildren were given plenty of each. Ruth was a wonderful baker and cook, and her desserts were the best. She always loved visits from her four grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her daughter, Nancy; two brothers, Richard and Walter and five sisters: Alma, Hilda, Loretta, Lillian and Esther. Survivors include her children: Hank and Pam Kouba of Maribel, Marie Dick and special friend Mike of Maribel; 4 grandchildren: Richard and Mitchell Kouba of Rosecrans, Kristen Dick and special friend Jeff, and Jonathon Dick, of Maribel. Friends may call at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 435 Wisconsin Ave in Denmark, on Wednesday, April 24, from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:30am, with Pastor Andy Zoerb officiating. Burial will be in the Knollwood Memorial Garden. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Unity Hospice for the care and concern they showed to Ruth and her family.
