Ruth Ann Goeben

Ruth Ann (VandenElzen) Goeben, age 84, of Green Bay, passed away December 13, 2021. The daughter of the late Norbert and Janet (Fite) VandenElzen, was born November 4, 1937 in Green Bay. She married Leonard Goeben on June 19, 1957 at St. Francis in De Pere.R

uth worked at St. Norbert College in food service for over 20 years until she retired in 2000.  She was also an avid gardener, volunteer at the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, and member of the orchid club.

Ruth is survived by her children, Daniel (Michelle) Goeben, Debbie (Mark) Niemuth, Denise (Dale) Braunsdorf; grandchildren, Averi (Akira) Niemuth, Ashley (Drew) Spratt, Sara (fiancé Nicholas VanWagner) Braunsdorf and Sage Braunsdorf; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Josephine Spratt; siblings, Ray (Shirley) VandenElzen, Tom (Joan) VandenElzen, Marlene VandenElzen; in-laws, Joanne Ropson, Bill (Nancy) Goeben and June Heisler; as well as nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard “Buddy” Goeben, and brothers, Alan VandenElzen, and brother-in-law, David Ropson.

Private family services have been held for Ruth. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
