Rosella was reunited with our dad Roland, her favorite dancing partner, on August 1, 2023. She passed away peacefully at the age of 92, with loving family by her side. She was born the seventh child of eight on December 10, 1930 to the late Clem and Sadie (Vanden Heuvel) Matzke in the town of Glenmore. She was a 1948 graduate of East DePere High School. Rosella married Roland B. Schroeder on May 10, 1948 and together they raised 11 children. After 50 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on June 7, 1998.
Rosella held many jobs throughout her life; homemaker, waitress, factory worker, store cashier, housecleaner, and in-home caregiver. She volunteered at the Denmark Community Cupboard, The Bridge Between and the Denmark Senior Center. Rosella was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church-New Denmark and the Ladies Altar Society.
Our mom enjoyed going on gambling trips, playing bingo, cards, cribbage, and putting puzzles together. However, what Rosella loved the MOST was being a kind and patient Mom and Grandma to her large family.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Ronald (special friend Diane) Schroeder, Denmark, Max (Angie) Schroeder, Denmark, Beverly (Gary) Kalies, Reedsville, Tom (Kathy) Schroeder, Greenleaf, Bonnie (fiance Loney) Resch, Chilton, Roger (Linda) Schroeder, Maribel, Becky (Tim) Miller, Denmark, Rosann Koenig, Denmark, Marlene (Tom) Wenzlaff, Whitelaw, Bill (Chrissy) Schroeder, Denmark; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Joyce Cohen, Gloria (Roger) Bougie, both of DePere; one sister-in-law, Joan Schroeder, Colorado.
Rosella will be greeted in Heaven by Roland, daughter Barbara (Martin) Peters; daughter-in-law Sandra Schroeder; her parents Clem & Sadie Matzke; brothers and sisters: Roland (Ethel) Matzke, Blossom (Milton) Krueger, June (John) Collins, Robert (Germaine) Matzke, Kenneth (Delores) Matzke, brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernard Cohen, Florelda (Walter) Krueger, Norman Schroeder, Merlin (Elizabeth) Schroeder, Elverta (Lawerence) Bittner, Orville (Lorraine) Schroeder, Marvin Schroeder, 1 infant grandson Curt, and 1 great-great-grandson Leon.
