Roma Lydia Gutknecht, 92, De Pere, was welcomed into her Savior’s loving arms on Friday morning, January 20, 2012, at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice, with her granddaughter by her side. Roma was born June 20, 1919 in Sheboygan, WI, daughter to the late Arno and Lydia Rohde. She married Carl Gutknecht on June 20, 1940, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1991. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She had strong faith in the Lord and was active in church throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by her children, James (Karen) Gutknecht, Milwaukee, WI, and Sandra (John) Badtke, Green Bay, WI; grandchildren: Scott (Michelle) Gutknecht, Franklin, WI, Jill Badtke, Green Bay, WI, and Daniel (Tiffany) Gutknecht, San Tan Valley, AZ; one sister, Ruth Heinemann; and two brothers, Robert and Roy Rohde. In addition to her parents and husband, Roma was preceded in death by five brothers: Roland, Reinhold, Rueben, Richard, and Raymond Rohde. Family and friends may call Tuesday, January 24, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave., Allouez, with the Rev. Peter A. Speckhard officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Sheboygan. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
