Roger Lynn Marvin Tenor Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Ledgeview on June 5, 2024. Roger was born on November 30, 1943, in Algoma to Marvin and Rose (Ropson) Tenor. He graduated from Preble High School in Green Bay. While at school, he was active with their Sharpshooter Club.
He married his high school sweetheart, Jane (Mineau) Tenor on Oct. 3, 1964, at St. Mary Parish in De Pere. They enjoyed more than 60 years together.
He was an operating engineer with the Local 139 for over thirty years. In 1963, he began working for Tenor Brothers Construction and retired from Relyco Inc. in 2007. He loved excavating and enjoyed the humor and friendship of his fellow co-workers.
He was most proud of his family and was happiest when spending time with them. Upon his retirement, he worked with his sons to reconstruct a family shed that was big enough to hold his eight children, their spouses, twenty-one grandchildren, and thirteen and a half great grandchildren for the holidays and numerous game nights.
Roger was an avid garage sale enthusiast and enjoyed quizzing his family with the purpose of his antique tools. He loved hosting an annual cribbage tournament, weekly visits to the grocery store for scratch off cards (lucky man), fishing and fish fry dinners, playing cards, visits to ice cream shops for large chocolate twist cones, and spending time up at the lake. He is well known for his yearly white house size Christmas trees and there may or may not have been secret stashes of sweets. He supported his wife’s love of gardening by bringing home “the ladies”, full size concrete Grecian ladies that grace the flower gardens behind the house.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; children: Deanna (Anthony) Dupont, Roger Tenor Jr., Marvin (Jenny) Tenor II, Chris (Kristy) Tenor, Jennifer Tenor (Fred Dietrich), Andrew (Vicky) Tenor, Doug (Jen) Tenor, and Brad (Christine) Tenor; grandchildren: Ryan (Jasmine), Matthew (Jamie), Courtney (David), Michael (Brittany), Anne (Colin), Taylor, Trystin, Hunter (Emilie), Conner (Marissa), Christopher, Mackenzie (Jacob), Izack (Karina), Dakota, Cole, Owen, Kate, Riley, Devon, Nicholas (Allissa), Ally, Ashley and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters: Mary Adrians, Linda (Denis) Vanden Heuvel; brother and sister in-laws: (Bob) Schmidt, Julie Smits, Linda (John) Tourville, Louis (Holly) Mineau, Mary (Brian) Bandow, Lois Mineau.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Rose (Ropson) Tenor; mother and father in-law, Louis and Mildred Mineau; brother-in laws: Jerry Adrians, Larry Tenor, Joe Smits; sister-in laws: Sue Schmidt and Jean Tenor; and his nephew, Chad Adrians.
