Robert J. Kolarik, 85, of Denmark, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, with his family by his side. Robert was born on September 12, 1937, in the town of New Denmark to the late Melvin and Cecelia (Ronk) Kolarik. He married Mary Ann Steinberger on October 27, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc, and they enjoyed over 60 happy years together.
Robert graduated from Denmark High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957 on the USS Frank Knox. He was stationed in the South Pacific and Far East and greatly enjoyed visiting those countries. After the U.S. Navy, he worked as a meat cutter for several years and then was employed for 32 years at Fort Howard Paper Company until retirement.
He was a kind, gentle, and generous man of faith who was loved by everyone who knew him. Robert enjoyed fishing, reading, and playing the button accordion and harmonica, in addition to being a very talented wood carver who created many beautiful works of art. He was also a deep thinker with an extensive curiosity about the world. Robert loved spending time with his family and will be sadly missed.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, and their six children: Glen (Lisa), Theresa (Ron) Floyd, David (Julie), Tom, Sharon, and Kenneth; grandchildren: Chris (Callie) Kolarik, Craig Kolarik, Hunter (Katie) Floyd, and Gavin Kolarik; and 3 great grandchildren: Connor, Delilah, and Oliver. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia & John Mamrosh; brother and sister-in-law Don & Sue Steinberger; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father- and mother-in-law John & Anna Steinberger, and brother- and sister-in-law Ron & Mildred Wolfe.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 am at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am with Fr.
