Robert F. Scheriff, age 80 of Bellevue, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family following a seven-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Bob was born in Green Bay on July 8, 1944, to the late Theodore and Gwennith “Babe” (Rentmaster) Scheriff. He served his country in the National Guard, Army Reserves and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. On October 30, 1965, he married Gloria Vandehei. He attended the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, received his associate degree from NWTC in data processing and his bachelor’s degree from Lakeland College. For 36 years he proudly worked at Green Bay Packaging, retiring as Vice President of Information Systems. He loved the people there and always referred to it as “Our Company”. Bob was the President of the school board at Holy Cross, a volunteer with the Tri County Fire department in Munising for almost 25 years, started the Northeast Wisconsin branch for the Cystic Fibrosis foundation and served as President of River Pines Homeowners Association where they lived for the last 21 years. In his younger years, he loved all sports, football, softball, basketball, racquetball and golf.
His family came first. As a family, they enjoyed boating. As members of the Green Bay Boat Club, they boated around the Bay, Lake Michigan and trips to Canada. They sold the boat and bought a cottage in Michigan that became his “Happy Place” for the next 25 years. When Frank and Charlene built a hobby farm, that became his new “Happy Place”.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Gloria, children; Charlene (Frank) Brumbeloe and Gina (Paul) Hedsand, grandchildren; Rebecca (Alex Neuberg) Brumbeloe, Melissa (Evan) Drew, David (Lexi Schuurmans) Brumbeloe, Haley Hedsand, Jordan Hedsand and honorary family members, Dan and Carol De Bauche.
