Richard “Dick” Heier, age 79 of De Pere, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born in Manitowoc on October 13, 1944, to the late Edward and Mercedes (Pigeon) Heier. In 1969, like many young men, Dick joined the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War and for 30 years after as a reservist. He was a proud graduate of Premontre High School in Green Bay and received Bachelor’s Degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere.
Dick worked has a trust officer and investment adviser for numerous regional banks throughout the Midwest before opening his own investment management company in 1986.
Dick was an avid tennis player and fan. He also enjoyed hiking and bird watching, especially on his regular trips to Door County. He loved trying new restaurants, spending time with his grandkids and traveling. The US Naval Academy and rafting on the Arkansas River in Colorado were two of his favorite destinations. Dick coached high school football on and off for over 40 years including at: Madison East, Wausau West, Green Bay Southwest and others. He spoke on multiple occasions at St. Norbert College and University of Wisconsin - Madison about his time in country during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son, Chris (Jacqueline Dioguardi), grandchildren, Nolan and Kailani Heier, and his brother Robert Heier
Preceding him in death are his parents and his sister Nancy Heier.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, October 4, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, 220 S. Michigan St, De Pere from 10:00am to 10:45am with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. In lieu of flowers, Dick asks that donations be made to either St John’s Homeless Shelter or Casa Melanie at St. Willebrord, wanting food on less fortunate tables in his memory.
