Richard "Dick" Tracy

July 14, 1963 — March 31, 2026

Richard "Dick" Tracy, Allouez, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at age 62. He will be remembered by many for his selfless devotion to his family, friends, and youth baseball. He loved and cared for others and was the type of person who would do anything for you. Dick was very involved with athletics. He was a basketball referee. He played baseball, then began as an umpire, became a coach, and served as president of Allouez Little League Baseball. Dick loved baseball and he gave his all to make baseball fun for kids in Allouez. Among his favorite days were those coaching his Orioles teams. He enjoyed summer nights at the park, seeing the smiling faces on the baseball players. "Dick Tracy Field" at Webster Park was named in his honor. Later, he returned to youth baseball and coached the Allouez Aces in an effort to bring baseball back to the Allouez community.

As one of ten siblings, Dick was a beloved son, brother, and devoted uncle and great uncle or "GrUncle." He was a gentle giant who grew up a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, and he enjoyed cheering for his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews at their games or performances. Dick was the archetype of the “fun uncle,” a role that he embraced with great joy. Over the years, he attended hundreds of recitals, sporting events, and birthday parties, always equipped with treats. Many happy afternoons were spent walking from his house to Allouez Cafe or to Webster Park for batting practice, sledding, or just a good push on the swings. Thanks to his great stature, he was a favorite for piggyback rides and boosts up to the monkey bars, though he could easily be toppled by an enthusiastic toddler with a cry of “Down goes Frazier!” As his nieces and nephews grew up and started families of their own, he welcomed their spouses and children with the same warmth. Dick’s family could always count on his humor and his quiet smiles, good jokes, and some great history and sports trivia. He was skilled at counting cards, a talent he used to deliberately lose every card game to his loved ones, especially when there was money involved. At every family event, he was the first to give up his seat and the last to get in the buffet line. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds. He also served his country in the Air Force. Dick had a keen interest in military history and traveled to many battlefields in the United States. He had unwavering support for those in the military and thanked every veteran he encountered for their service.

Dick will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In keeping with his wishes, a private funeral and burial were held.

Friends are invited to visit from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave. De Pere on Friday, April 10, and to share condolences on his online obituary.
