Peter J. Herber, Jr., also known as “Pepsi Pete,” passed away peacefully on the morning of July 28, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in 1937 to Peter and Mareena Herber, Pete was the eldest of twelve children. He married Deloris (Nell) Nelson, at St. John Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. Together, they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage, building a life they greatly enjoyed while leaving a lasting legacy for their family.
Pete took great pride in working alongside his grandmother, father, and brothers to grow the family’s Pepsi-Cola business. He was a lifelong member of First United Presbyterian Church in De Pere. He greatly enjoyed the friendships he built through the Hiawatha Fishing Club, TOC pumpkinball team, Mid Vallee golf leagues, Wrightstown bowling leagues, and many cherished hunting seasons.
Pete and Nell spent many fun winters in Florida enjoying golf and making new friends. They made countless trips to Las Vegas and created lasting memories with family and friends at their cottage on Lac Vieux Desert.
He was known for his honesty, fairness, and quiet generosity. Beneath a gruff exterior was a loyal and compassionate man whose friendship was valued by those fortunate enough to know him well.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris (Nell); daughter Pam (Joe) Vollmar; grandson Darren (Amanda) Vollmar; and great-grandchildren Clayton, Elise, Brinlee and Fletcher Vollmar. He is also survived by siblings Carolyn Doedens, Dan Herber, Charlotte (Ron) VandeHei, John (Donna) Herber, Mary (Eugene) Rolf, Victor (Joanne) Herber, Margaret (Chuck) Keehan and Jim (Karen) Herber. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Jan Nelson, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Mareena Herber; his in-laws Leonard and Helen Nelson; brothers Chuckie, Don and Rick; and in-laws Lou Ann Herber, Betty Herber, Doris Herber, Dan Doedens and Al Nelson.
