Our brother, Patrick Jones, was one of nine children and a lifelong resident of Green Bay. He was born on June 25, 1953, and was named after his Irish grandfather, Patrick Mc Goldrick, who was born on the same date in 1895.
He attended St. Matthew Catholic Grade School with many other neighborhood children from large families who formed a special “old neighborhood” relationship which has been ongoing ever since.
Patrick attended Green Bay East High School. He was on the track team and later followed marathons from coast to coast. When he could no longer run due to arthritis he worked as a full-time volunteer for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon for several years and enjoyed working with the organizers and the runners.
Patrick was an avid fisherman beginning as a young boy fishing for perch with his Grandpa Andy Jones on Green Bay. He loved to fish at Voyageur Park where he was well known for his fishing skills and his tips to others. He enjoyed nature and being outside whether to cut the grass, plant a tree, or go for his daily walk.
Patrick was the only immediate family member still living in Green Bay. He could talk for hours on the phone and welcomed conversations with others on many subjects. He never missed our birthdays and could tell us all about our astrological signs and what to expect from being born on a certain day. He never missed watching a Green Bay Packers game and remembered the players from years back.
Patrick was a health-conscious enthusiast who preferred making all his own vegetarian food and juices using organic fruits and vegetables and a wide range of nuts and herbs.
He died unexpectedly, leaving behind his eight brothers and sisters Terry Ann (Richard), Kathy, Andy, Paul (Denise), Peggy (Alan), Tim, Betsi (Tad) and Tom (Sue); nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Kathleen “Kitty” Jones.
