With deep sadness and cherished memories, we come together to honor and celebrate the life of Patrick “Pat” Jacob Hockers, a man whose heart overflowed with love, generosity, and joy. Pat’s radiant presence brightened every space he entered, and his laughter was as warm and infectious as the love he shared with everyone around him. Born with a boundless spirit, he filled his world with kindness, laughter, and an undeniable zest for life.
Pat was the beloved husband of Jill, his rock and partner in every adventure, and a devoted father to three wonderful children, Rae, Matt, and Chris, each of whom carries his legacy in unique and special ways. To his nine beautiful grandchildren, he was a hero, a playmate, and a friend offering unconditional love and unending memories. Pat took immense pride in the family he built, finding such fulfillment in the beautiful life he created with them.
Pat’s winters were spent in his happy place—on the beaches of Nokomis, Florida, where he enjoyed family time, his toes in the sand and his heart full. He was equally at home at his beloved quarry, where he hosted unforgettable Fourth of July celebrations, complete with fireworks, laughter, and camaraderie. Pat was also a loyal fan of NCIS, especially drawn to the character Gibbs, and he loved a Hallmark Christmas movie, embracing the joy and nostalgia of the season. His heart was as big as his laughter, and he never missed a chance to bring happiness to those he loved.
Generous beyond measure, Pat had a rare ability to make everyone feel like part of his family, whether they were relatives or one of his many loyal employees, whom he considered like sons. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the company he built, not just through hard work, but with genuine pride in the relationships he nurtured. Pat approached his role with a fatherly spirit, fostering a culture of support, respect, and love that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to be part of his work family.
A lover of life’s simple pleasures, Pat’s joy for good food was a reflection of his open heart. He loved cooking for those he loved, pouring his care into every dish, often accompanied by a sweet treat—Pat had a famously unshakeable sweet tooth! Dining out was a ritual he enjoyed, where appetizers were a must, and the time spent together meant the world to him. Pat had a knack for discovering hidden treasures in antique stores, his eyes lighting up at a good bargain or a unique piece with a story to tell. Yet, it was his love for the water, boating, and the peacefulness of the ocean that truly brought him comfort and calm. Some of his fondest memories were spent out on the water, surrounded by the people he cherished most, and this was where he felt most alive and at peace.
In the final chapter of his life, Pat set out on a heartfelt venture with his two sons, Matt and Chris, to create a campground—a space that would embody everything he stood for… fun, laughter, and love. This project became his vision of togetherness, where families and friends could gather to share stories, build memories, and experience the warmth he brought to every environment he was part of. Though Pat is no longer here to see it through, his sons will fulfill this dream in his honor, building a lasting tribute to his legacy of joy and community.
Pat is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Jill, and his cherished children: Rae (Jay) Stueber, Matthew (Alexandra) Hockers, and Christopher (Marcelle) Hockers. He also leaves behind nine adored grandchildren: Grace, Brooklyn, and Beckett Stueber; Katherine, Anna, and Benjamin Hockers; and Emmie, Riley, and Ella Hockers. He is further survived by his brother and best friend, Ray (Anita) Hockers, and six siblings. Pat was also blessed with his loving sisters-in-law, Cindy Johnson, Cathy (Marc) Bilotti, Julie (Jeff) Wyman, and Amy (Bruce) Gajewski, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Among those holding special places in his heart are his cousin Quinn (Suzanne), nephew Nick (Michelle), niece Jenny (Cody), and his forever partner in crime, Aunt Kathy.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Hockers; his parents-in-law, Bill and Becky Adriansen; his brother-in-law, Allan Johnson; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who went before him.
Pat will be missed beyond measure, but his spirit and laughter will forever echo in the lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and love that will live on through his family, his friends, and everyone lucky enough to know him.
A heartfelt thank you to the Door County first responders and rescue team, Door County Memorial, Flight for Life, and the ICU staff on the sixth floor of HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, as well as the many doctors and nurses who provided such compassionate care for Pat. In keeping with his generous spirit, Pat was a donor, and through this final act, he was able to continue helping others even beyond his life.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our community during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Pat’s memory to the American Diabetes Association or the Sister Bay & Liberty Grove Fire Department.
