Nancy Joan Funk passed away May 29, 2025, at the age of 71. She was born on May 4, 1954 to Cyril and Arlene (Dollar) Thomas. After graduating De Pere High School, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a seamstress.
Nancy was known for her remarkable talent as a seamstress, always leaving people in “stitches.” Friends and family often found her busy at work creating beautiful pieces or baking her famous “funny cakes,” with her rhubarb torte being a highlight for her children. She was the life of the party and ever popular at local dance clubs, always spreading her infectious energy and zest for life wherever she went. Her care for others was always apparent, and countless stories can be told of her helping her family and friends in times of need.
Her adventurous spirit and love of travel took her near and far, whether she was taking day trips or jet-setting to exciting places like Florida, Europe, or Japan. Nancy was a true handywoman and took pride in caring for her home which she owned for 44 years.
Nancy is survived by her children: Adam Funk (partner Kathleen) and Amber (Mark) Brown; grandchildren: Chase Stankevitz, Arianna Medina, Simone Brown, Wyatt Funk, Cassius Brown, Evan Funk; siblings: Linda Collins, Amy Thomas-Stompanato (partner Jim), Lisa (Mark) Garot; nieces and nephews: Tom (Chris) Collins, Scott (Kristina) Collins, Beau (Emily) Brock, Alexandra Garot, Paige Garot (partner Danny), Devin (partner Nayla)Stompanato, Elyse (fiancé Anthony) Stompanato; godchildren: Annette Jetton Vannieuwenhoven, Jesse Reyes, Beau Brock and Kelly Schroeder and long-time best friend Marcia Reyes.
In addition to her parents, Cyril and Arlene Thomas, she was preceded in death by her former husband and love, David Beard; as well as grandparents, aunts and uncles.
To celebrate Nancy’s colorful personality, love of leopard and all things sparkly, we invite you to wear something she would approve of—as we gather to remember her.
