Denmark

Myron Shimanek, 91, formerly of Denmark, WI, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place, Green Bay, WI, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Myron was born to Peter and Antonia (Pivonka) Shimanek on September 30, 1933, in Kewaunee, WI. He grew up in the Ellisville area on a family farm and gravel pit.

On July 23, 1960, he married the love of his life, Joanne Radue, in Stangelville Church. They had two sons, Steve and Brian.

In his early years, he helped on the farm and gravel pit with his dad and brother, Alvin. As time went by, he worked for Hamechek Machine, Les Johnsen Carriage, Schuster RediMix, and Green and Gold Concrete. In 1976, he left Green and Gold Concrete and joined with Bob Winnekens and Bob Roffers to form Form Rite Construction.

As years went on, they separated, and Myron worked for Hammon Construction. He helped build homes with Jack Wegner and Steve Mathis. He later worked for Kevin Sommerfeld Construction. Then, he started Shimanek Overhead Doors until his retirement in 2020. Work was his hobby.

He enjoyed helping family and friends with their projects. He loved fishing “Up North” and with his grandkids and great-grandchildren on “Jack’s Pond.” He also enjoyed playing cards with friends up north. Myron enjoyed playing Dartball and made numerous friendships over his 45 years of shooting in both the Denmark and Green Bay Leagues. He especially enjoyed playing with his son Brian and grandson Josh. He was part of two state Dartball Class B Championship teams and won numerous league high trophies.

Myron is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Robin (Denmark), and Brian and Sharon (Green Bay). His grandchildren: Brittany (Adam) Brouchoud, Josh (Sarah) Shimanek, Ashley Shimanek, and Holly Shimanek. Great-grandchildren: Lily, Hailey, Landyn, Ella, Ivy, and Skye. Nieces and nephews: Dennis, Jim, and Mary Shimanek; Paul, Glenn, and Doug Reckelberg; and Mark, Kevin, and Richard Krueger. He is also survived by his friends Jack, Steve, Roger, and Audrey.

Myron was preceded in death by his wife Joanne; his parents, Peter and Antonia; his brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Joyce Shimanek; his sister Marcella; and his in-laws: Walter and Gladys Radue, Audrey and Fred Reckelberg, and Elaine and August Krueger, along with his faithful companion, “Chummy.”
