Michael S. Van De Walle, age 67, of De Pere, passed away Monday, January 25 at home surrounded by his family after a 5-month battle with T-cell lymphoma. He died on the same farm he was born on and worked on all his life. Michael was born March 4, 1953 to the late Joseph and Ethelyn (Liebmann) Van De Walle and in 1972 he graduated from De Pere High School. On September 18, 1976 Michael married Elizabeth Heezen and together they raised two children, Kelly and Adam. Some of the fondest memories of Michael include collecting and shucking hickory nuts, field work, and because he was a farmer, his ability to fix anything that was broke. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling, riding his side by side, and muscle cars. In 2017 Michael retired from farming and started a new career at Hilly Haven Golf Course as a greenskeeper and mechanic. He will be fondly remembered for always putting the needs of others before his own.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Van De Walle, and his Siamese cat, Tipsy. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Betty; daughter Kelly (Kyle) Boyce; son, Adam (Laura) Van De Walle; grandchildren, Venna and Mitchel Van De Walle; and sisters, Patricia (David) Cayemberg and Susan (David) Seyler.
