Michael J. Mcleod

November 29, 1941 — May 6, 2024

Michael Joseph McLeod, of Ledgeview, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024.

He was born to the late Alexander “Pat” and Elizabeth “Ella” McLeod on November 29, 1941.

Honoring his mother’s wish, Mike attended Abbot Pennings High School and was a student among the first graduating class. Following graduation, Mike drove truck for Dillon. Following that, he began his apprenticeship as a steamfitter working for Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 298 which is now Local 400. During his career, he made many friends and tutored several young apprentices. He proudly retired as a Project Superintendent with Phillips-Getschow Company.

On July 20, 1963, Mike married Mary Rohr and together they shared 58 years of marriage.

Mike was a humble and kind man who faithfully provided for his family. You could always find him tinkering with something. Earlier in life he enjoyed a good Manhattan. He traveled the western states and upper Michigan with Mary to visit family. He was by far the best Bloody Mary maker.

He is survived by two children: Tim and Jeannie “LuLu”, two grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Zachary and Ashley Hooyman, grand-pups: Bean, Rosie, and Fran, and other extended family members and special friends.

Preceding him in death are his wife: Mary, his parents: Pat and Ella, one brother: Danny, his mother and father-in-law: Louis and Cecelia. son-in-law: Jeff, and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Norma Peters for her loving support and to all of the staff at Oak Park Place and Bellin for their remarkable care and compassion.

A celebration of life to honor both Mike and Mary will be held at a later date. Details will follow.
