Michael R. “Dickie” Huempfner, age 84, of De Pere, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was born in De Pere on May 6, 1937, to the late Leonard and Phyllis (Besaw) Huempfner.
Dickie worked as a tractor mechanic for a local De Pere farm implement company for many years. He was a caretaker for his mother until the time of her passing. His joys in life were hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Family time was always fun especially when “snake bites” and “the tickler” made an appearance. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dickie also had such a strong love for his beloved labrador retriever dogs. They were his hunting partners as well as his faithful companions.
He is survived by three sisters, Jackie (Jim) VanDenack, Betty (the late Darrel) Renier, Tina (Larry) Schroeder, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don Huempfner, Gordon Huempfner, Bob Huempfner, Ben Huempfner, sisters Pat (Cookie) Sargent, June Huempfner, Rosie Jefrey, Joyce Arends and Evelyn Roffers.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere on Tuesday, August 10, from 4-7pm followed by a 7pm service with Fr. Mike Ingold officiating. Livestream will be available on the Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care Facebook page.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Recognizing Dickie’s love of nature and animals, the family is asking donations be made in Dickie’s name to your favorite hunting or fishing organization or favorite animal shelter.
The family would like to extend a thank you to St. Vincent Hospital staff for their kind and compassionate care.
