Deacon Michael Dabeck, surrounded in love, passed through the gates of Heaven on June 7, 2025 after a brief battle with glioblastoma. Michael was born on September 29, 1957. He was proud to point out that it was also the day Lambeau Field opened. He was the second child and first son of the late Ann Marie Dabeck and Walter Dabeck. He joined his sister, Donna and was followed by a brother, Jim and another sister, Mary.
Michael grew up in Manitowoc and attended Roncalli High School where he discovered his love of sports. He graduated in 1976 and went on to college at U.W. Oshkosh. It was there that he met the love of his life, Ann Christopherson. They were married on August 7, 1981. They were True Companions during their marriage of nearly 44 years.
Michael was especially proud to be a dad to his two sons, Jameson and Robenson. He coached Jameson’s football teams in Pop Warner and Allouez Buccaneers. He never missed a high school game. He ardently supported Robenson’s talents in music and photography, never missing a Youth Symphony concert or a high school musical. He loved his boys!
Michael worked as a salesman for Stock Lumber/Wisconsin Building Supply for many years, He then listened to the call of the diaconate. He was proudly ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church on May 15, 2010 . Michael served as a Deacon at St. Matthew Catholic Community and Nativity of Our Lord Parish. His gift was pastoral care. His love and compassion helped many people get through difficult times.
The outdoors was a spiritual place for Mike, whether he was hiking or hunting or fishing at the lake. The Anchor House at Rost Lake was his happy place.
Michael continued his stewardship as a volunteer for Miracle League and NEW All-Star League. He was an enthusiastic umpire for almost 10 years. The players and families loved his positive energy, and his love for all the players was evident in every game.
Michael is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ann, his two sons and daughter-in-law, Jameson and Micayla Dabeck and Robenson Dabeck. He will be greatly missed by his father, Walter Dabeck and siblings, Donna Dabeck and her husband Rick Novosad, Jim (Dawn) Dabeck and Mary (David) Marks, Ann’s siblings-Paul (Mollie) Christopherson, Jan (Doug) Phillips, and Bryan (Tammy) Christopherson. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will remember him with love.
