Merlin R. Jorgensen of Denmark, Wisconsin peacefully passed at the Meng Hospice Center at the age of 86, with his family at his side. Merlin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Merlin worked at Fort Howard Paper Company for 37 years. He was an active volunteer within the Denmark community through Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Knights of Columbus. He served on the village board for many years. Merlin was a faithful servant to his church as a lector, usher, and church secretary. Merlin enjoyed gardening, woodworking, telling jokes, and playing cards.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin Senior and Gladys Jorgensen; three sisters: Beverly Kowalczyk, Janice Beimborn, and Dorothy Leiterman.
Merlin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Yvonne; his children: Brad (Sue) Jorgensen, Carla (Jim) Schuster, Sandy (Eric) Geurts, Karen (Andy) Hoffman; eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters; brothers-in-law, Donnie Leiterman and Rod Kowalczyk; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Merlin’s celebration of life will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark on Saturday, June 10, 2023. There will be a visitation from 9:00 am until 10:45 am. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Fr. Xavier Amirtham officiating. Burial will follow in All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
