Merlin J. Wilmet

October 26, 1926 — August 30, 2012

Merlin J. Wilmet, 86, Allouez, passed away Thursday August 30, 2012 after a short illness. The son of the late Ernest and Ella (Larsen) Wilmet was born October 16, 1926 in West De Pere. He served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II. Merlin married the former Carol Dart on December 27, 1947 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, De Pere. He worked at Nicolet Paper Co. for 45 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Merlin was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, and supported numerous charitable organizations, including the Bay Area Humane Society, because of his love of dogs. Survivors include his loving wife Carol; their children: Kathryn Pecard, Allouez; John (Jane) Wilmet and Bill (Julie) Wilmet all of Ft Atkinson; and Michael Wilmet, Allouez; grandchildren: Jason, Mike, Eric, Brian, Lisa, Jill (Chris) Henze, Shayna, Adam, Brooke and Ben. Great-grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Gabrielle, Helena, Briella, special nieces and nephews also survive Merlin. Merlin was preceded in death by his son-in-law Robert Pecard, a brother and sister-in-law: Don and Ruth Wilmet. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, Wednesday September 5, 2012 from 3p.m. until time of service. Memorial service 6p.m.Wednesday at the funeral home. Inurnment in Allouez Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Merlin’s memory. Merlin’s family extends a special thank you to Allouez Fire and Rescue, Dr. Heverly, the entire staff on the 4th floor at Bellin Memorial Hospital as well as the wonderful staff of Unity Hospice for all of their care and compassion.
