Maureen Kane, 84, peacefully passed away at St Vincent Hospital on Friday, August 21, 2026. She was born on June 3, 1942 to Winifred (Sullivan) and Bernard Kane.
Maureen graduated from St. Joseph's Academy with the class of 1961. For years she worked as a proofreader at the Denmark Press. She loved everything she did for people; taking care of children at daycares, playing her keyboard for nursing home residents, and volunteering at the Curative Workshop, even winning their “Volunteer of the Year Award" in 2021. Maureen played the organ at St. Mary's, Stark and St. Mary's, Glenmore for many years.
She was a whiz at playing cards, could answer questions on TV game shows and always had word search books on hand. One of the saddest things for her was when she could no longer join in on trips to Las Vegas with the Hat and Kane Club.
She loved her many nieces and nephews and greats like they were her own. She played many card games of war when they were little.
Maureen is survived by her brothers; Bernard, Jr. (Rosemary), Alan (Diann), Gene, Clifford (Lois), and Roger (Linda). She is also survived by over 40 nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death are her parents; brothers, Donald and Joseph; and sister-in-law, Kay Kane.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 29, at St. Mary Catholic Church-Glenmore, (5840 Big Apple Road, De Pere) from 9:30am until 11:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm with Fr. David Pleier officiating. Private family burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery, Stark.
The family would like to thank Ryan Kane, Mary Claire Hafeman, and Peggy Evans for their extra love. We'd also like to thank Maureen's caretakers at McCormick Home, and the nurses at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for their wonderful care during her last days.
