Mary Ellen (Day) Zellner passed peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2022.
Mary Ellen was born July 4, 1933, to Edward and Marjorie Day. She married the love of her life Bob Zellner on May 10, 1952 and raised their four children together.
Mary Ellen spent much of her working years running her own pilot car business, traveling the country, and collecting stories with friends and fellow drivers. A diehard Packer fan, and a proud Irish woman, Mary Ellen taught her children and grandchildren to proudly wear green and gold, enjoy a healthy beverage, and cheer loudly on game day. Mary Ellen also loved to spend time with her camping family, first at Tilleda Falls and then at Rivers Edge. Her camper and deck were regularly filled with a collection of family, friends, and laughter.
In more recent years, Mary Ellen loved sharing stories, passing on her family recipes to her grandchildren (especially her corned beef and cabbage and chicken booyah) and spoiling her own and her family’s pets.
Mary Ellen enjoyed being able to raise her children and spend her retirement among her neighbors and camping friends, especially Tim and Carla Kane and Steve Krueger.
Mary Ellen is survived by her children Sam (Sue) Zellner and Annie (Neil) Zellner; daughter-in-law Kathy Zellner; brother Fred (Lois) Day and sister-in-law Libby Day; grandchildren Kevin (Claire) Zellner, Amy (Brad) Van Eperen, Kim (Mike) Yohn, Zac Zellner, Carrie (Eddie) Reinhard and Molly Siehr; great grandchildren Gage, Dalton and Gracie and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She looked forward to welcoming another great granddaughter this fall.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Majorie Day; beloved husband Bob Zellner; daughter Amy Siehr and son Alex Zellner; grandson Casey Johnson; brother Tim Day and brothers-in-law Jim Zellner and Leo Zellner.
