Mary L. Borman, 72, of De Pere WI passed away peacefully in her home on September 16th, 2025.
Born in 1952, Mary was one of six children of the late Burdon and Ida Thyes. Mary grew up on the family farm on the east side of Green Bay, WI. Mary graduated from Preble High School in 1971. She entered the workforce and was employed locally at The Denmark Press, Mirro Corporation, and Nicolet Paper Company. While employed at Nicolet Paper Company, she met her late husband, David Borman. They were married for 21 years.
After retiring, they moved up in the north woods and enjoyed a beautiful log home on 40 acres. They were members of the Corvettes on the Bay and enjoyed the outings with her sister Betty and her husband, Dave. Mary continued to enjoy corvette outings with her grandson, Mason after the passing of David.
Mary always took pride in her grandchildren and all their accomplishments, whether on the sports field, in livestock shows at the local county fairs, jewelry shows, dance recitals or band concerts. She would purchase items from her granddaughter’s handmade jewelry shows and wear them proudly. Even just a simple visit, Grandma was always there with love and support. She was part of a local Red Hatters Club, she partook in trips to the casino and travel. She was willing to help others with projects and volunteered at St. Mary in De Pere and St. John’s Homeless Shelter.
Mary enjoyed baking for her grandkids, family, and friends. She loved being in the kitchen and sharing her creations. Gardening was another great love of hers.
She will not be forgotten for her weekly delivery trips of cat food for Sharon. Lunches with her sister, niece, and cousins were something Mary would look forward to. Her holiday cookie decorating, Easter egg hunts, and chili cookoffs were always a highlight of the year for close friends and family. We would be remiss if Mary didn’t acknowledge Nick’s superior chili making skills which earns him a winner of the chili cookoff.
Mary is survived by her two daughters; Tammy (Rob) Paul and their children Francis and Milli; Krystel Kittell and Nicholas "Nick" McCabe and their children, Mason, Landyn, and Linken.
She is further survived by sisters Betty (Dave) Byrnes; Beatrice (Kenneth) Van Den Elzen; Sister-in-law Terry (Rick Thyes) Nitka, as well as nieces and nephews; Mary is also survived by her former husband, Merlin Kittell; Todd (Karen) Borman and their children, Trent and Brittany.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Leroy Thyes, Bert Thyes and Rick Thyes; nephews: Jason, Kevin, and Charles “Charlie Roo” Thyes; brother-in-law Robert "Bob" and sister-in-law Linda Borman.
The family would like send sincere appreciation for the extra love and support they received from Betty and Dave Byrnes for all their help and guidance over the last couple of years.
