Martin G. Kurth, 80, of Denmark, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 29, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born November 11, 1942, in Pine Grove, WI to Harry and Agnes (Kaster) Kurth, Martin was one of nine children. On October 10, 1987, Martin married the love of his life, Judy Hansen, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove.
In 1960, Martin joined the United States Navy. It was an honor and a privilege to serve his country. He was also a member of the Polish League of American Veterans Post 186.
An incredible sense of humor, his love for Polka music and fishing, and enjoying a beer at the bar are things Martin will be remembered for. But he will be remembered most for his brilliant mechanically inclined mind. He could build or fix anything- no directions needed! He even built a log splitter from scratch. He easily engineered his way into the hearts of so many in his community and will be missed by all.
Martin is survived by his wife, Judy; brothers: Arnold Kurth and Bernard Kurth; his sisters: Caroline Goessel, Helen (Gary) Crevier, Gertie (Fred) Martin, Eileen (Wayne) Junio; sisters-in-law: Linda Kurth, Jean Kurth, Mary (Ken) Hanzel; and his brother-in-law, Donald (Linda) Hansen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Harry Kurth; his father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Hansen; his brothers: Ervin Kurth and Joseph Kurth; and his sisters-in-law: Johanne Kurth, Genny Kurth, and Marlene Kurth.
Martin’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Martara and Bellin Cancer Center, Unity Hospice, and Deacon Jeff from Prince of Peace Church for the compassionate care he received.
A memorial fund in Martin’s honor has been established.
