Marilyn P. Ambrosius “Tootie”, 87, De Pere, passed away on May 15, 2025, surrounded by family at The Court of Eden Vista in Green Bay, WI. She was born on September 29, 1937, to the late Carl and Lillamae (Van Duyse) Vander Bloomen. Tootie graduated from Nicolet High School in 1955.
On June 3rd, 1958, Tootie married Marlin “Darky” Ambrosius at St. Boniface Church in De Pere. She and Marlin enjoyed traveling together, visiting 43 of the 50 states, Myrtle Beach being her favorite destination.
Tootie worked most of her adult life in retail, retiring as the Produce Manager at Piggly Wiggly in Crivitz. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister. Tootie was kind and instilled the importance of kindness, acceptance, and “Family First” in all her children.
Tootie enjoyed playing cards and bingo, music and planting flowers. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and celebrations.
Tootie is survived by her six children: Laura Quinette, Jean (Lon) Wendt, Jeff (Cathy) Ambrosius, Karen (Scott) Tate, Lisa (Gary) Podraza, and Amy (Jerry) Lancelle. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Courtney (Sam) Gerges, Sam (Megan) Patterson, Nick Patterson, Megan (Ben Ward) Ambrosius, Mackenzie (Wes) Ambrosius, Stephanie (Jared) Williams, Austin (Maddi) Podraza, Lexi Podraza, Billy (Chelsea) Lancelle, Maria (Blake) Loppnow. She is further survived by ten great grandchildren: Riley and Emma Gerges, Axel and Sawyer Wendt, Izzy and Baby Ward, Sloane, Murphy and Griffin Williams, Leo Lancelle. Sisters Bonnie Lamers, Dorothy (Dale) Schinke, Sue Slater, Linda (Ron) Watermolen; brother-in-law Ken Kamps; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Marlin; parents Carl and Lillimae Vander Bloomen, mother-in-law and father-in-law Marie and Louis Ambrosius; son-in-law Mike Quinette; brothers-in-laws Bob Ambrosius, Rick Ambrosius, Roger Lamers, Louis Raska, Carl Verstegen, John “Jeep” LeRoy; sisters-in-laws Verna LeRoy, Gen Ambrosius, Phyllis Ambrosius, Doris Verstegen, Clara Kamps; nephews Paul Kamps, Gary LeRoy and Tom Verstegen.
Family and friends may visit at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1307 Lourdes Ave, De Pere, on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 8:30 am to10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marilyn at 10:30 am with Fr. James Baraniak, O. Praem officiating, Deacon Mike Vander Bloomen assisting. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
