Lester P. Valenta, age 90 of Denmark, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 15, 1936, to the late Albert and Rose (Sladkey) Valenta and graduated from Denmark High School, class of 1955. Following graduation, Les enlisted in the United States Army, where he had schooling in engineering. He was only able to serve for about two years of his time due to the family needing him back at the farm. On August 30, 1958, Les married his high school sweetheart, Dolores Loberger.
After the family farm, Les started work with Suster Construction. His family then started the Valenta Concrete Products business, making concrete blocks, where he worked for a time. Les also worked for LC Cherny Construction, Belinski Excavating and Ruddant Excavating before starting his own business, Les Valenta Concrete Products. He belonged to Operating Engineers Local-139, as well as the Maribel Lions, the Maribel Sportsman and a volunteer with eh Maribel Fire Department. Les would occasionally play trumpet with local polka bands, a skill he started in high school band.
Les enjoyed gatherings held at his cabin, outside of Maribel. He spent a lot of time at the cabin, starting with clearing the land. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, crabbing, shooting pool and bowling. He had a great sense of humor that he will be remembered for.
