Leslie Norbert Schmidt, 85, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on September 21, 2023, after a short battle with gastric stomach cancer. Les was born in Green Bay on March 24, 1938 to the late Norbert and Violet Schmidt. He attended East Depere High School. He married the love of his life, sweetheart and dance partner, Dolores Woelfel, on September 19th, 1959. They just celebrated 64 blessed years of marriage. They were gifted with eight beautiful children. Dairy farming was his life with his wife and children. He loved vacationing in Texas and Florida for years. Les loved polka music, especially "Waltz Aross Texas", spinning vinyl records with family and friends, enjoying manhattans, driving tractors and doing field work, classic cars, being "Up North", years of camping, spending memorable moments with family and friends, and his taste and love of limburger cheese.
Les is survived by his loving wife, Dolores. Eight amazing children, Karen (Dennis) Linzmeier; Kevin (Vicki) Schmidt; Ken (Kim) Schmidt; Karla (Ken) Allen; Kelly Schmidt; Kriss (June) Schmidt; Kim (Jeff) VanderLoop; Keri (Tim) Jahnke. Many special Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Sister, Bonnie (Bob) Wicker. Brother, Rick (Sue) Schmidt. In-laws; Jim (Kristy)Warden, Erwin Woelfel; Arleen Woelfel; Rosie (Bob) Saharsky; Sharon (Glen) Scheidenhelm; Dave (Diane) Woelfel; Kay (Bill) VandenElzen; Brenda (John) Scheer; and numerous "Want-to-be" family members, especially Tony and Carter.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Violet Schmidt; Mother/Father-in-law, Alvin and Anna Woelfel; Sister, Joan Warden; Brother-in-law, Gerald Woelfel; Sister-in-law, Ellen Woelfel; and Daughter-in-law, Amy Schmidt.
Friends and Family may gather together at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Avenue, DePere on Monday, September 25, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. A prayer service will conclude the evening. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church-Glenmore (5832 Big Apple Road) from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am with Fr. Xavier Amirtham, O.Praem officiating.
