Laverne Mary Selner

Laverne Mary Selner, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, with her family by her side. She was the beloved daughter of Victor and Irma (Schermetzler) Huber.

On August 25, 1956, she married the love of her life, Leonard Selner, at St. Joseph-Norman. Together, they built a beautiful life and family. She was a devoted homemaker who cherished raising her 8 children.

She enjoyed playing cards, was known as the Yahtzee Queen, and loved bingo. She also found joy in sewing and in later years, vinyl weaving. She took great pride in her cooking especially baking her favorite cookies and “metunke”.

She was an active member of her parish, volunteering for funeral lunches and participating in the Rosary Society. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Laverne is survived by children: Darlene Amenson, Mark Selner, Dean (Barb) Selner, Diane (Arlyn) Bradley, Greg (Carol) Selner and Paul Selner. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Further survived by her sister: Ethel Kuehl, sisters-in-law: Irene Ledvina and Janet Huber, and her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Leonard, and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons: Terry and Randy, her sister: Nancy Huber, brothers; Jake Huber, Richard Huber, Bob (Arlene) Huber, sister-in-laws: Verna (Butch) Zelten, Arlene (Clarence) Kozlovsky and brothers-in-law:, Jerry Ledvina and Maynard Kuehl.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Road R, Denmark from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service conducted by Cristal Wavrunek to follow. Visitation will continue Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at St. Therese Parish- St. Lawrence Site, N2085 Co Rd AB, Stangelville (Denmark) from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Laverne at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating. Burial to follow the service at St. Lawrence Church Cemetery.
