Kenneth J. “Ken” Brosig, age 74, of De Pere, passed away peacefully at the Meng Residence of Unity Hospice on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma. Ken was born May 30, 1947 to Robert and Erna Brosig. He graduated from De Pere High school in 1965, where he was named All-Metro on the football team. After graduating from Whitewater University in 1969 with a degree in accounting, he earned his CPA Certificate. 3 months after graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served at Ft. Riley Kansas from 1969-1971. He married Janet Wicker in 1974 and they recently celebrated 48 years together. Ken worked 33 years for the WI Dept of Revenue as a tax auditor and retired in 2003. He enjoyed golfing and was proud to have once made a hole in one. He enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Packers, time spent with family and friends, and especially loved watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and concerts. Ken always said that the best years of his life were the last 22 that he spent as “Papa”.
Survivors include his wife Janet; son Robert (special friend Jodi), Scott (Jill), Jenny (Marre) Glenn; grandchildren Sarah and Luke Brosig, Autumn and Sam Brosig and Aliyah and Jonah Glenn; brother Tom (Robin) Brosig; sisters Gayle (Bob) VandenPlas and Kim (Jeff) Kielpikowski; Janet’s siblings: Bob (Bonnie) Wicker, Judy Wicker, Mary (Dick) Geurts, Denny (Mary) Wicker, Lee (Lois) Wicker, Nancy (Don) Platz, Bonnie (Larry) Sherrill, Joanne (Robert) Smits; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Erna Brosig; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edward and Christine Wicker; grandparents Paul and Nellie Brosig, Earl and Anne Matzke; brother-in-law Paul Wicker; nephews Dan Wicker and Steve Platz.
Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, on Monday, April 25, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Mike Ingold officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
