Kay Carol (Yuenger) Wisneski

August 3, 1941 — August 20, 2025

De Pere

Kay passed away peacefully with her partner, Mike, by her side on August 20, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital due to complications from cancer. She was 84.

Born on August 3rd, 1941, in Green Bay to David A and Carol J (Haines) Yuenger, Kay attended St. Joseph Academy (1959) and graduated from St. Norbert College (1963). It is here that she met and became the official mascot of her husband, Mike “Wisco” Wisneski, marrying him on May 2nd, 1964.

Kay loved being a mom, a homemaker, and serving her community. She served as Chapter President of PEO, Encompass Child Care board member, GB Public School District committees, SNC Alumni Board President, and numerous positions at St. Philip the Apostle. Additionally, she worked at Wisconsin Telephone Co, Peace Nursery Center, and Encompass Early Education Care.

Her pastimes included reading, dancing, watching sports, crossword puzzles, keeping Mike in check, time with her girls, and creating treasures for others via knitting, needlepointing, and counted cross-stitch. Many hours were spent with bridge clubs, stitching groups, and friends enjoying companionship and laughter. She did all of this while bravely battling Crohn’s disease for 58 years. She was quite a woman.

Words she left us with: “Think of me in heaven eating a huge bowl of popcorn, a heaping bowl of ‘ronis’, a peanut butter sandwich, and all the other stuff I couldn’t eat on Earth. It’s heavenly! “

Kay is survived by her husband, Michael Alan “Wisco” Wisneski; children Mary Kay (Tim) Helbing of Janesville, Jill (Jeff) Mack of Fitchburg, and Ellie Ellis of Madison; grandchildren and great grandchildren Max (Kristy) Helbing with Nolan, Mason, and Elsie Helbing, Marcus and Megan Mack, Reggie Roemer and Dominic Ellis; sisters Mary Ellen (Fran) Barbeau, Anne (Jeff) Gajeski, and Julie Murken; in-laws Mary Flynn, Carolyn Verkuilen, Susan Yuenger, Sue Wisneski, Catherine West, and Dan Driscoll; her best friend Maureen (Jerry) Vanden Hogen; as well as many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, David A and Carol J (Haines) Yuenger; brothers James Yuenger, David Yuenger, Mark Yuenger, and John Yuenger; in-laws Michael F Wisneski, Marie (Gajewski) Wisneski, Marilyn Driscoll, Jim Verkuilen, Jim Flynn, Gary Wisneski, Todd Murken; and grandchild Evan Helbing.

Kay’s Favorite Poem:

  • Do all the good you can,
  • By all the means you can,
  • In all the ways you can,
  • In all the places you can,
  • At all the times you can,
  • To all the people you can,
  • As long as ever you can.
  •                     Unknown
