June (Brennan) Lasee

February 21, 1942 — February 24, 2015

June A. (Brennan) Lasee, 73, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, after a 19-year battle with cancer. She never let cancer break her spirit, or diminish her capacity for love, understanding, and forgiveness. She used her days to make the world a better place. She fulfilled one of her greatest desires, benefiting others in death by being a body donor to the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. June was born February 21, 1942, to Gordon and Claire (Herold) Brennan, delivered by her aunt Florence Brennan at the family farm in Morrison, WI. She married R. Charles (Chuck) Lasee in 1961 and had three wonderful sons and raised her family in Green Bay. June was an incredible woman. She graduated from De Pere High School and was a gardener, raspberry picker, jam maker, and pie baker extraordinaire. She was a professional reader on all subjects and genres and loved to share her passion for reading with others. She was a regular volunteer, helping ESL students learn to read. June had a strong desire to experience other countries and cultures; visiting Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. While her children were growing up, she finished her University education begun many years earlier at UW-Oshkosh and graduated with a BA degree from UW-Green Bay. She was a business owner, nursing home administrator, and Dale Carnegie Scholarship Award winner. June cherished her friends, enjoyed playing cards with them and was a brilliant Scrabble player – a wordsmith and master guru to many. She is deeply missed by her children, Frank (Amy Joy) Lasee, De Pere; Matthew (Melanie) Lasee, Ledgeview and, her siblings Joleen Duda, Bloomington, MN; Mary Hillary, Denver; Gerald (Cathy) Brennan, St. Paul; and Kathleen Pohlod, Milladore, WI; 9 grandchildren: Carina, Annika, Madelein, Miles, Olivia and Franklin Lasee; Sophia, Daphne and Penelope Larsen. June was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley; Chuck Lasee; siblings, Jacqueline, Janice and Russell; brothers-in-law, Michael Pohlod and Gene Trotter; and aunts; Gladys and Florence Brennan. With deep gratitude, the family sincerely thanks all of the “Angels” at the Odd Fellows Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. They were more than professional. They provided the highest care and enabled June to live her final weeks with peace and dignity. “I have arrived, I am home, In the here, in the now I am solid, I am free In the ultimate, I dwell.” Family and friends are invited to help us honor June Lasee on Sunday, March 8, 2015 beginning at 11:00am (tribute to commence at noon); at Hagemeister Park Restaurant, 325 N Washington St, Green Bay. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations will be forwarded to the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) for research.
