Johannes C. Johnson

Johannes C. Johnson, 94, Denmark, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at a local nursing home. He was born March 15, 1918 in New Denmark, son of the late John and Anna (Andersen) Johnson. He married Clara Margaret King on November 24, 1937, and she preceded him in death on August 23, 1998. Johannes farmed all his life until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Denmark. Survivors include his eleven children: Joanne (Fred) Alger, Carl (Barbara), Dennis (LuAnn), Judy (Darrel) Hengel, Suzanne (Douglas) Piontek, Gary (Darlene), Sally (Robert) Konkle, Brian (Doris), Neil (Karen), Scott (Nancy), and Jill (Daniel) Meeboer; 52 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Hannah Schoen; brother-in-law, Donald Hengel; and a good friend, Wendell Alberts. Johannes was preceded in death by his parents; wife; seven grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters. Visitation of family and friends was held Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Rd R, Denmark. Visitation was also held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Denmark on Thursday, Aug. 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The funeral service was conducted at the church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Zoerb officiating. Interment followed in Eastside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
