Joann (Suplinski) DeCleene, 87, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021. The daughter of the late Jacob and Rachel (Simonet) Suplinski was born on August 10, 1934. She married Al DeCleene on October 3, 1953 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Green Bay. Al and Joann made their home in De Pere, raising 4 girls and the token boy. Joann enjoyed many years of camping before they built a cottage on Legend Lake. After retirement, they continued their adventurous spirit with many travels both in the US and abroad. They especially enjoyed visiting family in Cameroon, Costa Rica, Argentina and Germany. She had a love for playing cards, especially taking our quarters when she beat us in cribbage. Joann was able to live out her years in her home thanks to the love, support and care of her granddaughter, Susan Fitzl and her children. Thank you Susie and Shay!!
She is survived by their five children: Laurie (Dean) Pankow, Sandra (Mark) Zullner, Howard (Geralynn) DeCleene, Theresa (Tom) Alexander and Annette Reed. 14 Grandchildren: Ben (Kirstin) Pankow and their children, Brielle, Caleb, Josiah, Daniel and Joseph; Andrew (Amy) Pankow and their children, Anika, Leah and Samuel; Linda (Zach) Stollfus and their children, Jethro, Luther and Irene; Mark (Jennifer) Hazaert and their children, Jacob and Elizabeth; Susan Fitzl and her children, Ray, Shay and Trey; Rachel Hazaert (Tommi Vatanen) and their son Onni; Matthew (Katie) DeCleene and their children Morgan and Kevin; Christopher (Hang) DeCleene and their children, Cameron and Ethan; Kathryn DeCleene; Preston Alexander, Leslea (Nathan) Cahill and their children Locklan and Leon; Stacey (James) Webber and their children Ezra and Everly; Spencer (Franchesca) Alexander and their daughter, Sienna; Laura DeBauche and her son Tyriek. Sisters-in-law: Helen Verhasselt, Alice Morrell, Joyce DeCleene and Judy (Bob) Johanski.
In heaven she is welcomed by her husband, Aloysious and sons-in-law Richard Hazaert and Michael Reed. Suplinski family members welcoming her include her parents, Jacob and Rachel (Simonet) Suplinski, Marian (Dan) Baker, Harold (Mildred) Suplinski, Lucille (Chet) Libal, Iris (Jack) Diamond, Norman (June) Suplinski and Rita (Ray) Plake.
Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, De Pere (Ledgeview) on Thursday, September 16, from 9:30am until 10:45am. A funeral mass will be celebrated for Joann at 11:00am with Rev. Mike Ingold officiating. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
