Joan Lipp, age 87 of De Pere, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. She was born on March 25, 1937, in Bay Settlement, Wisconsin to the late Albert and Edna (Deschane) Drais. She graduated high school from St. Joseph Academy in 1955, and on July 27, 1957, she married James Lipp at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Green Bay, and was a devoted wife for 67 years. For a short time, she worked at WG&R Furniture, then left that job to become a homemaker. After the children went off to school, she began a job with Green Bay Press Gazette, “stuffing flyers” until her retirement in the mid-1990s. Once retired, she became a crossing guard at De Pere Middle School, and she enjoyed that for over 10 years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs she had rescued. She also enjoyed playing games, any kind of games, yard games, board games, or card games! Joan just loved to spend time with her family. Joan was very active, hiking, biking and when she was 80 years old, she ran the Bellin Race and received the bronze medal in her age division. Her energy and love will be missed by her family.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, children; Dan Lipp, Mark Lipp, Julie (Jeff) Peterson and Karen (Joel Pataconi) Lipp, grandchildren; Brandon (special friend Macie Laylan) Lipp, Heidi (Leo) Haas, Tucker Christensen, Josh (special friend Sara Schroeder) Peterson, and Rachel Peterson. Joan is further survived by her great grandchildren; Finnan, Elijah and Wren as well as her sister-in-law, Julie Drais, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her son, Scott Lipp, brothers Mike Drais, Norb (Jan) Drais and Lloyd (Jan) Drais, her sister, Rita Drais and brother-in-law, Donald Lipp.
