Jewel Rose Hoefner, 88, Cooperstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family October 9, 2025.

The daughter of John and Marie (Hessel) Fenlon was born September 15, 1937 in Green Bay. Jewel married Donald Hoefner May 18,1957 at St James Catholic Church, Cooperstown.

Jewel and Don owned Hoefner Grocery store in Cooperstown from1970-1979. She worked at Fleet Farm in Green Bay for several years. Jewel held various sales positions through the years where she made many wonderful friendships. She enjoyed decorating, Polka dancing and bowling. She helped organize her high school reunions. Jewel was an avid Packer Fan! An active member of St James Catholic Church, Cooperstown, helping with funeral dinners and served on the church cemetery board.

Jewel was proud to pass on her legacy of baking to her children and grandchildren, especially making bread, buns and kneecaps.

Jewel is survived by her children and their spouses, Lori(Matt) O’Connor, Plymouth, Petrine(Myron)Treml, Luxemburg, Steve(Barb) Hoefner, Green Bay, grandchildren; Scott(Laura) Osterloh, Leslie(Brad) Godwin, Ryan(Rylee) O’Connor, Sean(Breno) O’Connor, Erin(Dan) Wall, Chas(Heather) Treml, Kortney(Jeff) Falish, Erik(Anna) Hoefner, Beth(Trey) Schlechty, 17 great grandchildren, Sister-in-laws; JoAnn Fenlon, Francis Creek, Carol Hoefner, Milwaukee along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Jewel was preceded in death by her husband Donald, March 21,1999 and her parents.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at St James Cooperstown from 9-10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11am, at church, with Rev. William O’Brien officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Jewel’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her dear friend Shirley Mancheski. They are also very grateful to the staff at Eden Vista in Allouez as well as Unity Hospice for all their wonderful care.

Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark, is assisting the Hoefner family.
