Jennifer Nora Bennett, age 61, a loved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a brave fight with cancer. Jen was born on May 4, 1963, in Rockford, Illinois to John Frederic and Elizabeth Mary (Owens-Jones) Bennett. Her family relocated to the Green Bay Area when her father started his career at St. Norbert’s College as an English Professor. Jen would often attend her father’s classes and was always intrigued by them. She was a reader and loved her father’s poetry books he composed.
Jen was a very free-spirited woman. She loved nature which showed in her love of plants, collection of nature artwork, and taking drives with her family and Clinton. Rabbits were her favorite animal, and if she was outside her home, it wouldn’t take long for the bunnies to gravitate towards her as she had a very special bond with nature. She also loved camping with her family no matter the weather. Jen loved to go boating in the summers with Clinton and enjoy the beauty of the sunsets. Jen always loved the camaraderie of good company.
She worked as a lunch and playground supervisor and made sure all the kids felt safe, supported, and made sure no child went hungry. Jen also loved to cook and was great at it. She worked for many years as a cook at her brother Doug’s restaurant, Take 5. Jen was very sociable and loved to be around people, especially her friends at CB’s Tap, they were like a second family to her and Clinton. She loved music and the simple things in life. Jen especially loved her family and spending time with them. She will be missed by everyone she knew and loved.
Survivors include her children; Dale (Kelsey) Bennett, Elizabeth (Brandon) Kussow and Ryan (Katie) Tischart, grandchildren; Spencer, Corrin, Zeppelyn and Presley Bennett, Sawyer and Brooks Kussow and Taylor Tischart. She is further survived by her unwaveringly devoted husband, Clinton Tischart, her brother, Doug Meikle, sister, Catherine Carrigan, brother-in-law, Thomas Ploessl as well as her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and great friends, especially those at CB’s Tap.
Preceding her in death are her parents and sister, Anne Ploessl. Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere from 4:00pm until a short memorial service at 7pm. The family wishes to thank the incredible nurses and staff from Unity Hospice, The Bellin Cancer Team, especially the 7th Floor staff at Bellin for their wonderful and thoughtful care of our Jenny.
