Jeff “Smiley” Sahaida, 66, Green Bay, passed away suddenly February 9, 2023 at a local hospital.
Jeff was born August 2, 1956 to the late Michael and Bernice (Simard) Sahaida. He attended Saint Francis Grade school and Abbot Pennings High School graduating in 1974.
He had a life time career in the food industry. One of his favorite positions he held was at the Crockery in the old downtown Mall. Jeff was an active outdoorsman, including hiking, bicycling, running marathons, and was an avid Packer fan. Jeff loved to get in his car and travel to historic places around the country. He was a photo buff, taking many breathtaking photos of his travels.
Jeff joined the Army in 1979 where he received training as a Food Service Specialist. He was rewarded certificates of achievement and appreciation. Jeff was awarded with the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Overseas Service Ribbon. He spent the bulk of his service time in Germany. He toured all over Europe via bicycle.
Jeff is survived by his sister, Julie Sahaida and brother, Jerry Sahaida. Nieces; Jocelyn Saunders, Aleea Drewiske and Alexis Sahaida. Nephew; Hank Drewiske. Great niece Ella Saunders. He is further survived by an aunt and uncle, Bob and Shirley Gifft, as well as many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Bernice Sahaida.
Friends and family may visit Thursday, February 16 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Avenue, De Pere. A funeral service will be held for Jeff at 12:00pm with military honors to follow services. Interment will be next to his parents at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
