Jean K. Vande Walle, age 91, of Green Bay, passed away on August 11, 2022 at Woodside Lutheran Home. Jean was born to Fred and Delia Matzke on March 18, 1931, in De Pere. On July 7, 1951, she married Richard Vande Walle and they went on to raise 5 children together in their home in East De Pere.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Julie (Douglas) Witt, Michael Vande Walle, Pat (Theresa) Vande Walle, Sue (Paul) Coenen and Glenn (Heidi) Vande Walle; grandchildren, Steve (Amanda) Vande Walle, Shawn Coenen, Erin Coenen (partner, Andrew Juneau), Vaughn Vande Walle and Cort Vande Walle; sister, Ellen (Dick) Maes of Cottleville, MO; brother-in-law, Bill Rentmeester; sister-in-law, Norma Vande Walle; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard (Dick) Vande Walle; brother, Richard Matzke; her special friend, Fabian Smith; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Jean was a lifelong member of St. Francis Parish in East De Pere. She graduated from East De Pere High School and maintained lifelong friendships with several of her classmates. After high school, she attended beauty college in Milwaukee and became a licensed beautician. Jean worked in many settings including salons, nursing homes and out of her own home as the stylist for the neighborhood. She was a member of a neighborhood women’s bridge club. Jean loved to play golf on Tuesdays at Hilly Haven. She really enjoyed being with other people and socializing. She traveled to many locations with family and friends. Jean was an excellent cook and baker and made many desserts for local fundraisers and St. Francis Parish.
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodside Lutheran Home and Optum Health for the care they provided to our mother for the last 12 years.
Family and friends may gather on Thursday, August 18 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Ben Johnson officiating.
