With grace, kindness, and a warmth that touched everyone she met, Jean Claire (Stoor) Gehlhoff found eternal peace and healing surrounded by her loving family on October 11, 2025.
Born on July 23, 1941, in Stambaugh, Michigan, to parents Lucille and Conrad Stoor, Jean was a proud Yooper. She graduated from Stambaugh High School, where she met the love of her life, David Gehlhoff. The two began a beautiful journey together that spanned 63 years of marriage—filled with commitment, love, fun and family traditions that would be carried on as her legacy.
After graduating, Jean left the Upper Peninsula and began her career at the Milwaukee Board of Realtors. There, she and David welcomed their first two children, before moving to Green Bay to open and run a tavern (Dave’s Stagger Inn) together. The tavern quickly became much more than a business—it was an extension of Jean’s warm personality: joining family and new friends into a community full of her memorable parties, sought after chili and burgers, and good times.
After purchasing a second tavern (The Den) with Dave, the two were connected with another large group of friends – leading to season tickets on the 50-yard line at Lambeau Field and so began her deep love of watching the Packers, not missing a home game for 30 seasons. She also loved traveling to away games to cheer on her beloved Pack, along with countless trips around the state with friends through the Green Bay Fun Club.
Jean’s greatest joy was her family. She and David had their 3rd and 4th children before moving to DePere where they built a home full of love, laughter and passed down cherished traditions and countless memories - especially during summers at Golden Lake and Stanley Lake in the U.P. She was a devoted wife, a loving and patient mother, a proud and supportive grandmother, and loyal friend to many. Jean will be remembered for her strong empathy, kindness, unwavering loyalty, fun spirit, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
Jean was proceeded in death by her mother and stepfather, father and stepmother, brother Kent, her son-in-law, Aaron, along with many sister and brother in-laws and dear friends.
She is survived by her husband, David; her children Don, Kim (Andy) Scray, Kevin (Lisa) Gehlhoff, and Dena (Chris) Fellows-Lese; and her grandchildren Ashley (Hayden) Peterson, Marissa (Mitchell) Burbach, Brittany (Dustin) Bokath, Craig Gehlhoff, Zoe and Amara Fellows, Aidan, Nathanial, and Audrey Lese; as well as her great-grandson, Theo Peterson and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon with Rev. Mike Ingold officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Syble Hopp School.
