Jane Ellen DuPont, age 81, passed away on October 13, 2026. She was born in Green Bay, WI on September 28, 1945, to Earl C. Baumgart and Germaine F. (Van Roy) Hudson. Jane attended Green Bay East High School, graduating with the class of 1963. She furthered her education at Bellin College of Nursing, graduating in 1966. On July 30, 1966, she married John R. DuPont, whom she had loved since the age of fifteen. Together they nurtured two amazing children, traveled the world, and enjoyed the camaraderie of friends until his death in 2018. Jane and John were gifted with six incredible grandchildren, whom they deeply loved.
Jane’s nursing career began in surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Green Bay, and continued at Bay West O.B. & Gyn. Later she did underwriting at Employers’ Health Insurance, volunteered at Theda Clark Hospital, in Neenah, and finished her career at Family Practice Associates, in Green Bay. Jane was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandmother, competent nurse, accomplished bridge player, and compassionate caregiver to family elders. In addition, she enjoyed book club, photo journaling, music, card games, board games, and puzzles (word, math and jigsaw). Jane was a Den Mother, Girl Scout leader, Swim Team Manager, and on the PTA board, in support of her children. She followed the achievements of her grandchildren with pride. She cherished this family that she and John created. In later years, Jane found comfort in writing poetry. And always, she was proud of her home….keeping it clean, well- appointed and welcoming.
During the isolation due to the Covid outbreak, Jane sought to learn more about her roots using DNA testing. This was how, at age 75, she learned of her Irish heritage, and of half-siblings and extended family. She found great joy in meeting, sharing, and spending time with and accepting members of her previously unknown biological family. While it was an initial shock for all of them, it turned into warm and lasting friendships.
Jane was grateful for all of God’s many blessings.
Survivors include two children: her son, Todd C. (Stacy) DuPont and their children; Samual, Emma, and Sophie; her daughter Kara M. DuPont (Kurt Meinhardt) and her children; Kaitlyn, Emily, and Lila.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, John R. DuPont; her mother, Germaine Hudson; her father Earl Baumgart; stepfather, Wayne Hudson; in-laws, John B. and Verona DuPont; and many other Irish relatives.
