James (Jim) Van Den Langenberg, 98, De Pere, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his home surrounded by loving family members. He was born January 4, 1927, in New Denmark; son of the late Frank and Johanna (Vander Steen) Van Den Langenberg. Jim married Gladys Baumgart on July 17, 1948, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. Gladys preceded him in death on September 9, 2013.

Jim proudly served his county in the United States Navy. As a World War II veteran, he served on the USS Windham Bay. He also was onboard the USS Forrestal during the Korean Conflict. His patriotism continued after he was honorably discharged as he was an active member of the Bellevue VFW Post 9677 - Winiecki. He enjoyed being on the honor guard. Jim retired from the James River Paper Company after many years and painted for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, enjoyed playing cards, travelling, and attending his grandchildren’s events. He was very active at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ledgeview where he volunteered not only his time but also his talents. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.

James will be deeply missed by his loving family; children: Linda Wenzel, Paul (Debra) Van Den Langenberg, Faye McKee, John (Molly) Van Den Langenberg, and LaVern (Vern) Baumgart; grandchildren: Lisa DeRuyter, Leah Van Den Bush, Brett (Brook) Van Den Langenberg, Sarah (Adam) Sanchez, Scott Van Den Langenberg, Stephanie Taylor, Victoria (Joe) Brian and Brandon Sell; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Gladys; son, Steven Van Den Langenberg; son in law Rick McKee; brothers, sisters and special friend Pat Matzke.
