James S. DeMoulin, 86, of De Pere passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, August 1, 2024. He was born on February 17, 1938 to the late John and Barbara (Rank) DeMoulin. Jim was a 1956 graduate of De Pere High School and later attended St. Norbert College. On June 25, 1960 he was united in marriage to Marlene Hettmann at St. Mary Catholic Church, Glenmore.
Jim and Marlene owned and operated Sunnyside Builders & Realty since 1976. Over the years he built hundreds of homes in the local area. He mentored many to start their own business in the building industry.
His involvement in many organizations throughout the years include president of Catholic Youth Organization, past president of De Pere Kiwanis, Brown County Home Builders Association and Board of Realtors. Jim was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in De Pere, where he was a Catechist, Eucharistic Minister, and served on several parish councils. For many years Jim enjoyed bowling and golfing with his best friend Leo Kerkhoff.
Survivors include his loving wife Marlene; children, Susan Kirtland OblSB, Bobbi Regnier, Joel (Kelly) DeMoulin, Mary DeMoulin (Ken Young); daughter-in-law Barb DeMoulin; grandchildren Scott (Liz) Parham, Chad Parham (fiancé Haylye), Nicholas Regnier, Jack Regnier, Jenna (Erik) DeMoulin-Ivanov, Jake DeMoulin, Paige DeMoulin, Madeline Giese (Devin), Kendall Giese (fiancé Grant), Chase Giese, Beck Giese; great-grandchildren Noah Parham and Emma Parham; brother Larry and Tootie DeMoulin; sister-in-law LaVerne Kane; family member Dorothy Johnson; other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded by his son Jimmy on November 2, 2017; granddaughter Alyson on June 18, 2007; Marlene’s parents Edward and Martha Hettmann; brothers Jack, Marvin and Jim Johnson. He is also preceded by his in-law’s, Ken and Aggie Hettmann, Bob and Marion Hettmann, Elaine and Pat Kane, Bob Kane.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, August 6 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere from 5:00pm until time of parish prayer service at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial and entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum will be private. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Jim’s memory.
