Irene R. Steffel, age 98, of Denmark, was reunited with her husband and daughter in heaven on July 14, 2023. The daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie Mincheski was born January 20, 1925. She married Junior Steffel on July 14, 1945 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Eaton. They farmed together and owned and operated Steffel’s Bar in Denmark. Irene was a member of the church Altar Society and American Legion Post 363 Auxiliary in Denmark. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, going out for meals, was a great cook and enjoyed playing cards. Her faith was important to her, and when she could no longer attend mass, she would watch it several times a weekend on TV, as well as praying the rosary regularly.
Survivors include her children: Jim (Nancy) Steffel, Shirley (Red) Kwasny, Joe (Dawn) Steffel, Sharon Mancheski, Sheila Wavrunek; grandchildren: Kent (Lisa) Steffel, Joel (Vanessa) Steffel and their children: Daniel, Shawn (daughter Isabella) and Matthew, Kara (Tim) Trevino (children: Copper, Sage and Zenna), Bryan Sechrist (children: Joshua (Hailey), Luke, Logan and Reagan), Kristen (Falcon) Garcia (children: Nick, Zoey and Max), Crystal Farrell and children: Logan (children: Kennedy, Lucas, Evelyn and Emerson), Dakota (daughter Delilah), Ethan, Devyn, Milayna, Emmalynn and Sawyer; Kim Robertson (daughter Amber), Mandy Jadin and children Stephanie (Hunter) (children: Elara and Aksel), Anthony, Serenna and Jonathan; Jodi Gillaume (children: Joey, Kyrin, Kendall, Molly, Megan and Anna), Jamie (Dan) Robinson (children: Breanna, Daniel Jr and Macayla), Amy Zirbel (children: Hadley and Bailey), Ashley (Bobby) Mancheski (children: Jr, Jacqualynn, Josalynn, Bentley and Aubree, Adam Mancheski, Dan (Debbie) Wavrunek (children: Cole and Lexi), Jennifer (Eric) Herbst (son Dalton), Zak Wavrunek (children: Ryder and Lincoln); as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior; daughter JoAnn; siblings: Alice (Dave) Goral, Stella (Clarence) Jerovetz, Richard (Mary) Mincheski, Jerry (Gail) Mincheski; sister-in-law Arlene (Nubs) Johnson.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home- Denmark (536 Cty Rd R) on Wednesday, July 19, from 4-8pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church- Denmark (145 St. Claude St), from 9:30am until 11:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am. Private family burial in SS Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Eaton at a later time.
